You might have noticed I am on a journey with the woman in me. Through recent works, I have come into deeper contact with her, and she feels stronger and more powerful than ever. So, the next announcements are perhaps a sense of something coming into focus.
On June 30, I will be playing Simeon ten Holt’s #CantoOstinato along three amazingly talented female pianists: Yang Yang Cai (𝓎𝒶𝓃𝑔 𝓎𝒶𝓃𝑔 𝒸𝒶𝒾), Pauline Post, and Lestari Scholtes (Lestari Scholtes | pianist).
And during the mornings between July 10 and July 19, EAT is returning to Mediamatic (Mediamatic) with a fresh collaboration with Rederij Lampedusa (Rederij Lampedusa). We will be serving vegan breakfast prepared by food artist Aslı Hatipoğlu (Asli Htpglu) with performances by Spanish-Dutch soprano Claire Adams (Claire Adams), sailing through the Amsterdam canals on a former vessel that once carried people in need on journeys from Africa to Europe.

Today would have been a perfect day to chat with Reinier, about the performance we presented last week, the piano recital by Sokolov that I attended a few weeks ago, or my new adventure in Kyoto.
But now, that has become impossible.
The cinematographer, Reinier van Brummelen was my close friend and an exceptional colleague with whom I worked intensively for many years.
He passed away last week, on 16 June.
I will deeply miss the conversations we would have continued to have.

Dear Tomoko, I send you my condolences. Although we’ve never met, I know Reinier was very passionate and proud of his work with you. He spoke about and showed me many of his recordings with you and I’m so happy he was able to be at your performance this past weekend. His work and artistic mind were so amazing! I met Reinier about two and a half years ago when we collaborated on a dance film project. Since then I was fortunate enough to work with him and we became good friends and artistic colleagues. He thought me so very very much. He will be greatly missed but remembered and live on in our hearts forever. 🥀
