Candle Light Concert
23 October
Portuguese Synagogue Amsterdam
Ticket site via my bio
This concert is not about being religious or not, it transcends questions of faith. It is an act of communion, an expression of sacred energy and ritual. More personally, it is also about remembering my husband, Philip Mechanicus, who passed away in 2005. With a Jewish father and a childhood in the Waterlooplein neighborhood, performing in this synagogue brings me back to Philip, his handsome face, his talents, his stunning works as a photographer, and above all, his love, and above all, his love. Because may love win, here in the Netherlands, in Gaza, in Ukraine, anywhere really. Take a break from your Amsterdam Dance Event program and join me for 9 Preludes by the composer @maximshalygin Maxim Shalygin at the very heart of Amsterdam on 23 October.
